The Long Ice stirs. A procession of ghostly beasts—translucent, antlered, and bearing no scent—emerges from the Driftlands during a still night. They do not bleed, and they do not stop. They enter homes and stare at residents until they freeze or flee. Those touched by the Hunt dream only of snow. Defiance IX is evacuated at great cost.
