Week 1
Things haven't worked out for me to be able to serve as a game master these days. Too many other things that have been demanding my time. Despite that, I am invested in this world and I want to continue to build it so that I can bring players into it when I am again able to be a game master.
I'm going to be focusing on getting the different camps completely fleshed out. So, I will be looking to create the major NPCs that live there and flesh out the factions that they can gain rank with. I've already done the Meta for this world and am very satisfied with that. Not feeling that there is anything else needed there, but it was good to have another look over it.
Since I hit 50,000 words last year, I am going to try for that again this year. I think that it went a long way into injecting motivation and drive into my world building. I don't know how doing NovelEmber this year will impact things. Just going to have to see how it goes. Bbut I am going for the 50,000 again this year! Go big or go home, right?
Week 2
I spent a lot of time on my home page last year and still feel that it is looking good. I think that it represents the world well. I did decide to add a section with "a clear user journey" in mind. There previously wasn't anything giving new folks anywhere to start. So I added that in.
I'm happy with the world primer and am keeping that as is. Set up the community tools last year so those are good to go!
While I didn't make a lot of changes, I feel like a yearly review of these key features in a good practice and am glad that WorldEmber is reminding me to do it. It helps keep my world building grounded in the foundation that I built and gives me the option to change that foundation if I need to.
Week 3
I've already included inspirations for this world in my meta, but I've taken the time to revisit them so that they are fresh in my mind coming back into this world.
Week 4
For the most part, I will be looking to my players for thoughts regarding the ongoing world building in this world. It is a project that I started for them to enjoy so I feel that it is as much their world as it is mine. As far as a writing schedule goes, I've never had a consistent schedule and am never likely to. That being said, I've never found that I had a hard time getting to the writing. Once I've started a project it is generally a problem to get me to take breaks rather then to get work done on the project. Thus, as always, my larger focus will be on making sure that I am maintaining good self care during this event.
Good luck to everyone with your WorldEmber goals!
Good luck reaching your goal! Go big or go home indeed! XD I hope you have a lot of fun this WorldEmber.
Thank you so much!
