World Ember Homework 2025

Step 1: Pledge Your Goal

I am going to be writing in the Dawn of Others world with my focus on Camp Hope. This is the location that the campaign is taking place in and I feel that the more that I flesh it out the better the game will get. I am going to do my usual and aim for the 50,000 but I'm also going to try not to completely kill over!

I gave these a review and don’t feel that there is any need to make changes. I’ve collected all this into the world meta previously. So, there really wasn't much to do in this regard,

Refresh your author profile to prepare for an influx of new readers

I did a little editing on my profile. Mostly to clean up the look where the unofficial badges are. Made it a double column so it looked better. Otherwise, I left it alone. Honestly, I'm never sure what to put in my profile. Figure what I have is good enough.

Create a mood board for your area of focus

I did a major overhaul of the homepage last year and am still really happy with it now.

Review your category tree

I feel like this is a never ending project for me. I never end up with an organization that feels quite right. I've shuffled things around again and meh.

Define your scope for World Ember

This is an area that I feel I'm going to need to spend some more time on. I know that I want to build within Camp Hope, but not really anything beyond that. I'm kind of leaning towards building things in the surrounding area rather then in the camp itself. There should be plenty of interesting landmarks for the players to explore. I also think that I'd like to figure more out about the people that are living in the Wasteland of Albany. I'm feeling like this will likely be my focus. But as always, I will leave things largely up to the muse and go where ever things take me.

I spoke to one of my players to get feed back on their thoughts.

The Other Camps

Develop the interactions and tensions between the various camps. Consider how the other camps could be pulled into the campaign setting and how they could impact the world / story that is unfolding. Wanted to know what kinds of black market trading there was between the camps.

Exploration of the World

This aligns with the focus that I already had in mind. They talked about wanting to explore what was outside the camp and getting a sense of the world in a larger view.
