Inscription of Insight

Once per long rest, you may use the stylus to inscribe a Sigil of Revelation onto a creature (including yourself). For the next 8 hours, the creature has advantage on Insight and Investigation checks but has disadvantage on Charisma saving throws as their mind remains exposed to fragments of unwanted truth.

Psychic Engraving

Once per short rest, you can spend 1 minute to inscribe a Neural Glyph onto a willing creature. Choose one of the following effects:

  • Echo Sigil. For the next hour, the target gains a +1 bonus to Intelligence saving throws and may recall one obscure detail from their past with perfect clarity (DM's discretion).
  • Dreamlock Rune. The target becomes immune to being charmed or frightened for 10 minutes.

Memory Alterations

Once per a long rest, you can use the stylus to cast Memory Alternations.

If the stylus is used on an unwilling creature (requiring a melee spell attack), the target must succeed on a DC 15 Vigor saving throw or become Stunned until the end of their next turn. They must then succeed on a DC 10 Sanity saving throw or become inflicted with a Indefinite Madness effect as their memories involuntarily surface and re-write themselves.

If the stylus is used on a willing creature, you do not need to roll an attack and the creature need not roll a Vigor saving throw as it gives itself over to you. However, they still must succeed on a DC 10 Sanity saving throw or become inflicted with a Indefinite Madness effect as their memories surface and re-write themselves.

Memory Alterations

You can alter the target’s memory of an event within the last 24 hours that lasted no more than 10 minutes. This includes permanently eliminating that memory. The creature must be able to understand you. If a modified memory is too nonsensical to affect a creature in a meaningful manner (GM’s decision), it is disregarded as a dream.

For every 2 dark spent before casting, you can go back further and modify more

  • 2 Dark: you can go back 7 days and effect 1 hour
  • 4 Dark: you can go back 30 days and effect 1 day
  • 6 Dark: you can go back 1 year and effect 1 week
  • 8 Dark: you can go back their entire life time and effect 1 year

This delicate stylus is made of etched bone-glass and capped with a flexible nib of silvered quill. It contains a reservoir of living neural ink—an iridescent fluid made from Dreamtide vapor, pigment ash, and blood memory. When the stylus touches skin or parchment, it hums faintly and records more than language—it captures thought, sensation, and fragments of memory.

This isn't ink. It's what remains after the dream forgets itself. If you read it backwards, it shows you what you were meant to forget.
