Hammond Karsyn Dudley
Biases
Hammond believes that innovation and recognition matter more than safety or tradition, often dismissing the caution of older Engineers as outdated. He also tends to judge others based on how “flashy” or impressive their work appears at first glance.
Positive Bias
He deeply respects those who gain fame through invention or who can put on a show of brilliance—especially Engineers with flair and charisma.
Negative Bias
He is openly dismissive of those who emphasize structural integrity, testing, or long-term reliability, calling them "boring bricklayers."
NPC Traits
Hammond is boastful, witty, and always ready with a rehearsed anecdote about one of his "successful" devices. He’s a charismatic talker, if not always an honest one.
Talent
He excels at designing visually striking prototypes with intricate moving parts, often cobbled together quickly from scrap with surprising aesthetic charm.
Mannerism
He constantly polishes or adjusts his tools even when not using them, especially his custom goggles, which he wears on his forehead at all times.
Interactions with Others
Hammond tries to impress everyone he meets—especially higher-ranking Engineers or anyone from outside Camp Hope. He is overly competitive with his peers and quick to shift blame when things go wrong.
Ideal
“Better to dazzle and fail than to go unnoticed.” Hammond believes legacy is carved in spectacle, not stability.
Bond
He’s chasing the shadow of his older brother, a legendary Engineer who disappeared during an expedition—Hammond is desperate to be seen as his equal or better.
Flaw
He regularly cuts corners in construction, skipping safety checks and stress tests, leading to frequent—and sometimes dangerous—failures.
