Thordic’s Skrattafell Excursion

The words of Sergeant Brannith Marius spoke of tidings that would transpire in Skrattafell, and that Thordic’s strength would be a great asset during the meeting that would take place there. Still, the barbarian chieftain knew what the Reman Sergeant truly wanted; he needed a strong Reman presence at the meeting, and for that, he would need Lucia amongst their ranks.   Thordic eyed the Sergeant before putting his gaze on his beloved wife, and he could see that their mind had already been made up before the first words had escaped the mouth of Brannith. She was a proud Reman warrior, and when her countrymen came calling, she would always be ready to answer the call. Clan Black Root made ready for Skrattafell, and upon arriving, they found the town welcoming, but it wasn’t under Reman control. That meant you would need to be on the watch for thieves in the shadows, monsters lurking in the dark, and everything else that would happily end your life to have something to do.   Lucia and Thordic headed out in search of some missing people from the temple. They found a mysterious webbed body in a barn. Lucia sent Thordic to carry the corpse back to the temple to gather more information, but along the way, a small group of people threatened to take the body from the barbarian. Thordic thought about using the webbed corpse as a shield to battle the five strangers, but he could hear his wife coming from behind him, and he didn’t want to put her life in danger. He came to a compromise with them instead. He would carry the corpse to the temple, since it was close to them, and deliver it, but when the quest was complete, the reward went to Lucia, and Thordic required healing from the temple priestesses.   Thordic had suffered spider bites while transporting the corpse, but he wasn’t surprised to hear about it. The whole way back to the temple, he kept feeling something akin to a bee sting, but he thought it was just a nuisance and continued on. The poison was in his blood, but the priestesses were able to cure him, and the reward was split.

Afterward, Thordic and his wife venture up a hill where the kobolds were. They were odd little creatures, but battle wasn’t needed as Lucia went to check their home to find that there was nothing there, and the pair left, but on their way back to town, a raid on the Remans came, and they threatened to destroy their siege weapon. Thordic stood with his wife to defend the siege weapon, and though they fought valiantly, they were soon defeated, and the siege weapon was lost.

The two of them had to find a healer to mend their wounds. Thordic’s wounds were many, but Lucia’s weren’t as severe, and that’s when the call came. They sought warriors to raid the bandit camp, and Thordic tried to stand, but his legs just wouldn’t let him. As she often did, Lucia calmed him and promised she wouldn’t take any unnecessary risks. With sword and shield, she left to assist her countrymen.

Upon her return, she was wounded, but alive. It was enough for Thordic to breathe easily, but during the meeting, something went down between two different sets of dwarves. One group wouldn’t recognize the other as their king and demanded that it go to a vote, but a bandit took care of that nonsense and slayed the one who wanted the crown. Thordic was confused about the matter but never spoke to any of the dwarves to get an honest opinion. Perhaps if it comes to a war between the two factions on who will be their king, he will take some interest in the matter, but until then, he will continue to do as his wife says. With the meeting over, and the bandit making his escape, Clan Black Root packed up their camp and made their way home until the next summons comes from the Reman Sergeant Brannith Marius.
