Aquitania

Founded in 7856 of the Dwarven Calendar, Aquitania stands as a vital crossroads on the northernmost border of the Alliance of Dawn Lords, colloquially known as the "Dawn Lands" by its residents. This bustling town serves as a crucial trading hub, connecting the Dawn Lands to the southernmost reaches of the Imperial Reman Republic. Situated along the main trade route north from New Dawn, a prominent city within the Imperial Reman Republic, Aquitania facilitates the flow of goods and ideas between the two powerful factions.   Aquitania is more than just a trading post; it's a melting pot of cultures. Dwarven merchants bring their renowned craftsmanship, while traders from the Dawn Lands offer exotic goods and spices. The town has become known for its vibrant marketplace, where the sounds of bartering, the aroma of spices, and the vibrant colors of exotic textiles fill the air.   Beyond trade, Aquitania boasts a growing shipbuilding industry, with skilled craftsmen constructing sturdy vessels for coastal trade and fishing expeditions. The town is also home to a thriving fishing community, supplying fresh seafood to the local population and contributing to the bustling market.   However, Aquitania's southern location presents unique challenges. Situated on the border, the town faces occasional threats from bandits, raiders, and other dangers. Due to this, the city council often finds it necessary to hire Dwarven and Dawn Lander mercenaries to bolster the town's defenses and ensure the safety of its citizens.   Notable citizens of Aquitania include:   Valeria Domitia Aemiliana: A respected Reman noble lady, and Quaestor Aerarii for Aquitania. She is seen as ambitious and stern, but also fair.

General Marcus Aemilius Severus: General Marcus Aemilius Severus, a decorated war hero, rose through the Reman legions through tactical brilliance, leading campaigns against the Jotun and suppressing slave revolts. While fiercely loyal to the Republic, his experiences have instilled a pragmatic view of war's cost, balancing strength with justice. He values his strategic marriage to Valeria, and approaches the defense of Aquitania with concern for both its threats and the Republic's integrity.
