Portal Gates

Inspiration: Grian's megabase in Hermitcraft s9.
Long ago, odd gates made of broken rock and eerie wisps of magick were used to hop between the continents on Eskǎvaëís. Each land formation contained anywhere from five to ten portals, each with its own design. Most portals are hidden to the eye, but tend to present themselves in the presence of a paranormal being gifted with special magick from Tryoh, Fate of Magick. Each portal respents something new and is always connected to another portal, but sometimes, there is a chance for malfunction to happen and the people crossing through get stuck between realms. This would result in people getting "lost in time." However, no one has ever returned if they were lost through the portal. To use the portal is to run the risk of never reaching the other side.
Syus could not take his eyes off the swirling colors of white and gold that made up the portal, or whatever it was. Keith laid a hand on his shoulder.

Kěith Cheonsa: "Are you ready, old friend?"

Syus let out a long breath. He knew they didn't have much time left. Without Lucifer, the Light's help, they'd never take down Queen Alice or Viktor Tyler.

Syus Nightingale: "How can I ever be ready?"

Kěith let out a chuckle. He turned to his mate, who finished instructing Ulrick on what to do once they crossed over.

Kěith Cheonsa: "Once you go through, there's no coming back. You'd need us and we can't go. What we'll do here is hold Viktor and Alice off for as long as possible."

Ulrick Ravenswood: "Don't worry about us, Lunar Kěith. Syus is in good paws. All you need to do is keep this Alpha in check."

Jack McClain: "Hey! I'm perfectly in control!"

Kěith Cheonsa: "Yeah, sure you are, Mr. Grouchy Puppy."

Kěith teased with a hint laughter. Jack flushed, looking away and crossing his arms over his chest.

Jack McClain: "Let's just hurry up."

There are no known people who currently live near the portals, but back in the EoD, guardians or sentinels were stationed at the portals. For the portals that formed in the air, where the only way to reach it was by flight, the guardians were known to set up a mage tower nearby and had magickal alarm systems set up around the portal to notify if any trespassers attempted to use the portal.   As time went on, the use of the portals grew less frequent until they were no longer necessary. This also caused the guardians to neglect their duties and eventually abandoned the portals altogether.

Design

Each portal is centered around a teleportation pad, a flat rocky structure that a large sum of boulders that form an archway when activated. These boulders can be made of any type of rock, even gemstones, giving each portal a unique pattern. Sometimes, they appear as a circle, or a square, and even diamonds and triangles.
Sensory & Appearance
When the portal forms, it creates a massive archyway that is about five feet wide and eight feet tall. Although, they appear like a bunch of boulders and rocks lying on the teleportation pad with overgrown flora creeping in. The second a portal begins to activate, the air becomes thick with magick, usually giving off the scent of spicy mint, while the portal appears white with a yellowish glow. Strong gusts of winds follow, making it harder to avoid being sucked into portal. If one can stand their ground against the pull of the winds, they either take a little damage or keep themselves steady, although, this is difficult to do, even for a strong individual.   To activate such a powerful, ancient portal, one must contain a magickal blessing from Tryoh, the Fate of Magick. In the Alpha Trilogy, Tryoh has blessed Jack McClain and Kěith Cheonsa with ancient magick; Kěith with passion that presents itself like fire, and Jack with stern, which reveals itself as ice. Together, the duo are able to activate a portal. However, if anyone other than Kěith and Jack go through, they cannot return without Kěith and Jack's help, as shown in the dialogue above between Kěith, Jack, Syus Nightingale, and Ulrick Ravenswood.
