Ninnghizida Jihad

The Conflict

Prelude

The prophets of the desert foretold of the coming of Ninn, a semi godess that enbodied the god Kantakerous, the same way that Lady Hawkwind enbodied the culture of the glauchs half world away. The Tusken people started naming Shas, regional independant liders and started to erupt temples to his god. Cryes of rebellion and independes started to upset the noble families of the Edekhani empire, so the regional gobernors apointed by the God-Emperor himself try to calm down the religious fervor by calling in mercenaries to slaugther all the fanatics. After almost a year of guerrilla tactics, Ninnghizida and the desert riders gather all their armies to force the enemies into an engagement.

Deployment

Ninn didnt hade many advantages, the enemie forces outnumbered them, had better equipment and much more combat experience. But months of guerrilla warfare dry their trhoats and left their bellies without much food at all. The local garrison and mercenaries didnt have a chance to prove their combat abilities, so they were eager to figth. Ninn use all what she could gather to her favor. She chose the place of the first and final battle. Even if it did not seem like it, she had the advantage.

Battlefield

Ninn choose to lure the enemie forces into the Wounds of the Earth, an ancient crack in the desert caused by an ancient earthquake milenia ago, forming a geological depresion surrounded by valleys. The paths were used by sheppards and travelers to bypass three days of walk through the endless desert. So, a control over the pasages of the valley would probe to be a great asset in the upcoming conflict.

Conditions

The majority of the forces of Ninn were locals that knew the land like the palm of their hands, and use it to its fullest advantage. The choose the most warm summer day of the season to launch their attack. The heavy armor of the mercenarie heavy troops would tired them out and half their eficiency, granting peltats, slingers and archers full advantage against the enemie. Many cammel riders were draft to figth in the desert.

The Engagement

Late at night, a camel unit attack the mercenaries camp to lure them into open field. The enemie forces quiclky asemble and started marching towards Ninn´s camp, seeing as all forces were gathered in just one place. The heavy troops in the center push some valley troops armed with spears and light palm tree armors, cleaving them in just one hit. The fanatics gave their lives to lure the heavy troops into the open wounds of the land, finally sacrificing themselfs to drive the enemie into a false sense of victory. When the most powerfull troops were isolated from the main force inside the valleys, the main force of Ninn revealed itself. Slingers, archers and skirmishers pelt the Silver Companions into submision during forty minutes, causing mayor casualties along the way. Meanwhile, with the left and rigth flanks disconected of each other, camel riders and heavy equiped fanatics started to fight. First they came for the left flank, having an opening since the both parts of the army were separated and weakened. Later, when the nearby city dispached heavy mounted knigths the camel riders entered the valley to finish of the Silver Companions, because against the knigths they have nothing to compare against, so it was better to kill all the enemie combatants that they can until reinforcements arrived.

Outcome

Mass desertion of the local militias, widespread and open rebelion of local governors Decimation of one of the most powerfull mercenarie companies in the know world, bringing renown to the cause for the defeat of such a foe.

Aftermath

Open rebelion of all the region, bringing legitimacy of other rebelious movements against the Edekhan Empire. subsequent campaigns and even larger military conflicts in the region.

Historical Significance

The Edekhan Empire welcomes with open arms the religions of their subjects, but the presense of a semi godess put the imperial apointed governors in ethical problems with the locals. And such, the war begun.
