Session 1: An Ignoble Batch
General Summary
On the prison ship Iron Grasp, 200 convicts and 10 prison guards are transferred to The Unflappable.
There the convicts are moved to a hangar bay, where Hadron 03 gives some lip and two Imperial Stormtroopers spectically fail to beat him down.
Due to a misunderstanding in orders, the guards are disarmed and assigned to groups alongside the convicts, splitting into groups of roughly 4 and 5, and are led to an unnamed scribe who briefs them. Ezekiel Calocan manages to hide the zap button for the convicts shock collars, which is seen by Natasja Frost.
Introduced to Sergeant Manor the convicts are "welcomed" aboard, the group is assigned weapons from the armoury and a life fire exercise is undertaken against another group. Afterwards it's estimated that half of the 200 convicts and guards were killed. Liliam Kovacz is badly wounded during the exercise and spends a week in medbay.
Further training is undertaken, Natasja Frost and Ezekiel Calocan excel while Hadron 03 requires further tutelage from Sergeant Manor.
While in the mess Hadron 03 and Ezekiel Calocan argue and Ezekiel Calocan uses the shock collar, causing Hadron 03 to spasm. A guard confiscates the shock collar button.
We do not speak of the 'Ships Surprise' which Ezekiel Calocan and Hadron 03 had for dinner.
After 4 weeks few of the convicts and guards remain, and the unnamed scribe returns and leads the group to meet Interrogator Gregor Draxus who briefs them on the mission. See Players Handout 1: Mission Briefing.
Gregor Draxus outlines the players mission objectives:
- Find agent Rodrigo Materson
- Investigate the reports of strange behaviour
- Upon finding the missing agent and identifying the cause of strange behaviour, extract and report back.
- If unable to extract, go to ground and wait for a second team.
- Under no circumstances to be captured alive.
Arbiter Ezekiel Calocan is given more freedom, and can explore the ship at will, excluding sensitive areas (e.g. bridge, engine room, gunnery batteries, etc.).
While enroute, the convicts are restricted to their quarters and training centres. As part of their training they are outfitted with equipment (see starting gear for each class), including additional gear as they see fit (one extra item per character), which is taken from them at the end of each days training.
The remaining convicts not chosen are used as life targets for the remaining period of travel.
The Unflappable takes a weeks warp travel to Notwhere where the group is transported to the surface posing as immigrants looking for work in the space port city of Cralanding. Hadron 03 and Ezekiel Calocan are sick on the way down from turbolence.
Before disembarking from The Unflappable, Sergeant Manor explains that the groups gear will be landed stored inside of a cargo container. The cargo container will be held in the space port for one week before being moved to the warehouse district. In addition to their wargear, a teleport beacon is included, code to activate is 01ABHA. To be used only when the situation is "a clusterfuck".
The Unflappable will depart orbit in a few days and is expected to return in six months, sidereal.
