"I pledge to participate in Summer Camp, enjoy myself and not burn out!"— LittleRaider
This July, I will be very busy at uni so I will not have a lot of time to participate in Summer Camp like last year. But I still plan on joining in because I love Summer Camp and I want a break from all my work.
This year was quite stressful, and I burnt out a few months ago, so I haven't been worldbuilding as much as I would like. But I am slowly getting some motivation back, so I am setting a goal for Copper. I am hoping I can reach it but my main goal is to participate and have fun this year!
I will focus on Dankar for this year's Summer Camp and I'll use the prompts to expand on some ideas for some short stories I have been thinking of. I'm not really going to focus on one region - instead, I'll expand on all 3 continents. I have many ideas, I like the themes we've had so far and I'm excited to see what the prompts are when July comes!
Themes
Nourishment
- Regional food, cuisines and ingredients
- Hunger for power, knowledge and education
- Energy sources, power sources, fuels
- Nourishment for people's powers
- Lack of food (thanks to disasters like the Ice Age)
Roots
- Plants, fruits, vegetables
- Some weird plants created as a result of the Ice Age and the spread of Necranis
- Regional myths, legends and religions
- Origin stories for some nations
- The roots and origins of magic in Dankar
Metamorphosis
- How the Ice Age and Sentinel War changed the landscape and ecosystem
- Growth arcs of the three main characters in my short stories
- The various effects of Necranis on the Mortal World's ecosystem
Tomorrow
- In the Known World, they are discovering and building on the remaining tech from older civilisations, including those left behind by the Sentinels
- Some factions are trying to remove Necranis from the world, while others want to use it for their own gains
- There are many factions that are working to keep their nations alive for centuries to come. Some of these methods are good, others are actively harmful
- The power of hope in the darkest times. There can be a lot of dark in Dankar, but there should be something to look forward to - a light at the end of the tunnel
Final Thoughts!
I would have done some of the other SC assignments, but I didn't have the time for them this year. Regardless, I'm so excited for the prompts, and I'm also interested in reading what others write this Summer Camp. I have a feeling it will be a blast! Best of luck to everyone and their plans!
I wish you a wonderful, relaxing summer camp and hope you will write charming copper articles.
Thank you so much! I hope you have fun with Summer Camp as well!
