Advisors of Tengushi
The Kingdom of Tengushi is famous for its network of so-called advisors. Officially, they help King Kaito and his family with their daily tasks. Some deal with the family and their personal matters, while others deal with national or international affairs. They are the people the King trusts the most, since he handpicked each one.
However, they are not well-known because of this. In other nations, there are rumours that the King uses his advisors to collect information on them. King Kaito has denied this. In fact, the only thing he has said is that the advisors help keep the peace. But for some citizens and nations, there is ample evidence pointing to them being spies for the King.
The Looming Disaster
"Did you hear the drilling this morning? It was unbearable." "I think the King wanted to build some bunkers. Something about an upcoming disaster."About 25 years before the Ice Age, Sentinel Skylar had a prediction of a disaster that would come for the world. For a long time, this was kept a secret between the other Sentinels. But in the underwater nation, preparations were already being made. The King invited scientists and researchers to his palace to determine the scale of the threat and how to respond to it. While other nations were caught by surprise by the rapidly forming ice, Tengushi emerged with very few casualitites 100 years later.
To the citizens of Tengushi, King Kaito became a savior and visionary. But to those outside the nation, it was the latest example of spying from a king who seemed to know more than he really should. Some thought that the King should have shared his intel with neighbouring countries. But to Kaito, it was Tengushi first, then other nations. This stance is also shared by his advisors. So over time, suspicion began to fall on them.
"They are good, aren't they? Even when they are suspected, nothing ever comes of it. And if trouble comes, well, there's always other people."
History
During the Age of Triumph, there was a civil war in an old kingdom, nearly tearing it apart. Its two tribes could no longer see eye to eye and fought each other bitterly. To keep the peace, a young Kaito recruited people across the land to help him unify the nation. Some of these people were sent out to find escape routes for the public, while others helped Kaito gather forces for the fight. Eventually, Kaito's forces weakened the two tribes, and they came to an agreement. The two tribes merged together, and the kingdom was unified. To celebrate the end of the war, the people crowned Kaito and made him king of the new nation Tengushi. To honour those who helped pave the way for peace, Kaito allowed his helpers to advise him on running the kingdom, as well as keeping some of the old ones. For the longest time, this was their only job. But the King was always determined to see off potential threats before they came underwater. So he got a group of his most trusted advisors, and sent them to the surface to detect any threats. If they were a danger to Tengushi, then the advisors would stop it if it was safe to do so. As the threats grew, so did the number of advisors needed. By the time the Ice Age came, there were possibly over a hundred advisors, if the King was to be believed.
