Ohkintropic Delta
"An impressive, one of a kind device until they made dozens. One must wonder what's so essential about Thanatorum's dictations that they must be everpresent?"
Divine Communication
An Ohkintropic Delta appears as a series of coalescing lenses atop every Birdtower; each was built by the Disciples of Thanatorum to receive orders from their patron, though the mechanism behind their function implies they could be used to reach a litany of interplanar entities. Thanatorum relies on the continued operation of the lenses for his decrees to be heard. While those viewing the deltas' projections are unable to actively respond, the corresponding devices owned by Thanatorum allow him to passively observe his followers so long as they're within the Birdtowers.Design and Function
The iron-clad lenses are arranged from top to bottom by descending radius, and the smallest focuses above a prism. The prism projects images and sounds from beyond, allowing for the reception of information across great distances and even separate planes. The apparatus is arcanely suspended atop the open air roofs of the Birdtowers, often with a surrounding clearing so the prism has ample space to project images. The Ohkintropic Delta harkens on the magic of the Ohkinate Web: an immutable structure that binds all planes and their contents. Due to the web's unfurling structure with a lynchpin center, every 'strand' of the web connects to every other. The deltas receive a broad amount of data by focusing in on the strands naturally passing through it in metaphysical space, and in doing so, search for the most efficient strand to desired planar coordinates. Once the most efficient strand has been determined, signals are passively received and delivered across the web and back to the Ohkintropic Delta. That information is sent to the prism and projected to the viewers. The delta only works in one direction; while it passively receives information from foreign planar coordinates, they cannot send messages back. This isn't a problem for the Disciples of Thanatorum, however, as their patron has several deltas in his possession; both cult and leader passively observe each other in this instance.Usage
Each delta must be properly tuned, which can take days, weeks, or years. Properly tuning requires regular experimentation, tracking the planar coordinates crossed while tuning, and narrowing down to the desired location. If one delta has honed in on its required coordinates, then finding the same location from another delta is drastically easier. The process of finding planar coordinates has been compared to echolocation: sending out signals in hopes of reciprocation. While the deltas can receive information from the same plane, its function remains consistent with interplanar communication. The most efficient strand must be identified regardless, lending to confusions regarding the Ohkinate Web. Many presume that the most efficient strand is equal to the most efficient path to the target location in physical space, which is inaccurate.
