Haplodiploidy
Haplodiploidy is a condition held by all Hymendia peoples, in which siblings share more traits and higher relatedness to each other than their potential offspring (and more relatedness to each other than siblings of other species). This shift in relatedness eventually resulted in the abandonment of reproduction by most Hymendia individuals, instead devoting themselves to a single reproducing queen. The phenomenon has also been correlated with elevated efficiency and an increase in altruistic behavior.
