Chaimut (/ˈtʃeɪ.muːt/)

"A cruel god reduced to suffering silence- our denizens prefer it that way."

-Epiphany, Scribe of Dandoleon

God of Time

Chaimut, human god of time, is known for his cruel disposition and domineering nature; when combined with a proclivity for divination and prophetic foresight, Chaimut's potential for exerting control is near limitless. He is the middle child of two brothers and has three children: two of whom reside unwillingly in Dandoleon alongside him. While his treacherous history granted him substantial influence over the planes, it was the same behavior that banished him to Dandoleon by his elder brother, Bailum. Despite his presence, Chaimut lives as an abstract concept in the minds of Dandoleans, never engaging with mortals beyond his influence over seasonal rotations.

Family

Brothers

Chaimut has two brothers, Bailum and Taopin (the human gods of justice and reincarnation, respectively). Together, they are considered the most culturally influential entities in the foreign plane of Laminarum. Nonetheless, foreign gods have rarely extended influence over Dandoleon, at least until the catastrophic Breaking they themselves wrought.   While Chaimut damaged Dandoleon with his daughters' banishment, his own relegation to the realm was brought on by Bailum in hopes of delivering an equal punishment. While the sentence matched the crime, it disregarded the people of Dandoleon, who suffered when faced with Chaimut's presence, as it initiated the rotation of seasons and decimated long-established communities and ecosystems across the plane. While the youngest brother, Taopin, was amongst those on the court to indict Chaimut, he scarcely influenced the Dandoleon like his brothers.

Children

Fei Invaru, Huereina, and Etheirus are the children of Chaimut. Fei Invaru represents fertility and resides in the Summer Manifesture, while Huereina represents the dichotomous Winter and resides in the Winter Manifesture. Their brother, Etheirus, is the human god of war but holds no bearing over the fate of Dandoleon, unlike his sisters.   Fei is the eldest child, known for her temperance and optimism. Her personality is owed to the tales of her young childhood, when she was regularly spoiled by her father and received his undivided attention and love; given the later shift in Chaimut's personality and intense desire for control, many scrutinize his early behavior as a tactic to gain complete trust from his daughter, especially as he later utilized his prophetic capabilities to gain control of her son for his own benefit. Huereina has a minimalist and destrive lifestyle, owing to her purpose in punishing Fei and winnowing the dominion of bloom.

Rel Eteisus and the Indictment of Chaimut

Rel was the son of Fei Invaru and the prophesied god of fate. The tale of his birth and death contains the damning crimes that resulted in Chaimut's banishment and the completion of The Breaking of Dandoleon. At the height of Chaimut's lust for authority, he foresaw his grandson's rise to power and sought to escalate the circumstances of his birth. The visions predicted that Rel's father would be Mitos, son of Bailum. While Fei Invaru attempted to court Mitos at her father's command, she was routinely rejected until Bailum intervened and forbade any interaction between the two: the matter was taken up directly with Chaimut, who feigned ignorance and agreed to the terms of their separation. Furious and ironically short-sighted, Chaimut secretly bore a rift in the human plane of Laminarum, allowing legions of demons and their duplicitous patriarch to invade. As the defender of humanity, Bailum was forced to intervene, waging a war against the invaders while isolated from the other planes. Milin Orphi, the demonic patriarch, withstood Bailum for a millennium before eventually fleeing.   In Bailum's absence, chaos brewed across the planes as the gods abandoned his court and pursued violent tactics against their enemies. Among the gods was Mitos, who quickly grew solemn due to his father's prolonged absence. At Chaimut's command, Fei approached him once more; at last, his plan was a success, and Rel was born. To ensure that Rel remained under his control, Chaimut sequestered him in an unknown location. Mitos was powerless in the face of Chaimut, forcing him to seek Taopin's assistance. Unfortunately, Taopin was preoccupied filling the shoes of his two absent brothers. Unable to find retribution, Mitos wouldn't see Rel again until he returned to wage war against his family.   Fei was the only individual allowed occasional visitation to Rel, during which she shared tales of Mitos's heroism. Such stories were the only thing capable of retrieving Rel from melancholy, and became the main subject of conversation between him and his mother. Eventually, when Fei felt she had earned Rel's trust, she released him from his containment. She wished to show him the human world of Laminarum and the incredible impact she had on its landscapes; unfortunately, Rel's displays of compliance were a facade, and he quickly escaped to an unknown destination. During Rel's absence, Bailum's war against Milin Orphi ceased, and he returned to reestablish order across the planes. When Bailum's goal was accomplished, Taopin revealed the kidnapping of Rel. Together, the brothers approached Chaimut and learned of Rel's escape.   Subsequently, Rel returned to his family with a declaration of war. During his absence, he had been intercepted by a fleeing Milin Orphi, who agreed to gift him one of the sixteen outer planes in exchange for the death of an OhdaufeenI. The war was waged in Laminarum and risked humanity's extinction, but Mitos intervened in hopes of de-escalating the conflict. Deeply seduced by the promises of Milin Orphi, Rel refused to comply, leading to a battle. Tragically, Mitos was forced to slay his son, lest the conflict grow beyond the gods' control. When the dust settled and the matter was brought to Bailum's court, the crux of the conflict was put upon Chaimut. The subsequent Indictment of Chaimut saw him banished to Dandoleon, where he serves an eternal sentence. Ironically, as Rel was born an Ohdaufeen, his death was rewarded with the hellish plane of Fahrefahl where he formally metamorphosed into an Ithitar2 and was ordained with the full name Rel Eteisus through Ithitar Acknowledgement3. He remains loyal to Milin Orphi to this day, making the conflict an irrecoverable loss regardless of the punishment delivered to Chaimut.
1. The term Ohdaufeen is typically used to refer to a member of the human pantheon, a robust family representing a plethora of domains. While few are relevant to the world of Dandoleon, the greater pantheon can be found in Laminarum   2. "Ithitar" is a common term for "devil" across the planes. The term is meant to relate all devils to their forebearer, Milin Orphi, himself titled the "Ancient Ithitar."   3. Ithitar Acknowledgement is a procedure that ordains a devil with their "second name." The presence of a second name is an essential aspect of their meritocracy, declaring that they have proven their worth to a greater devil. To receive a second name from Milin Orphi is regarded as the highest form of reverence among the Ithitar, and it is often accompanied by ownership of a plane.
