Core Device: The Basics

Your Core has many uses, especially out on the field. It holds your license information as well as proof of your position in the Digger's Guild. It provides this information via a small heads up display it can project.       It can be upgraded with various forms of new software. But in it's base state, it can be used for taking notes, local communication (roughly 100ft), taking pictures, and activating Drives.       A basic Core possesses 2 Drive slots, and can have as many a 5 once a Digger has Ranked and gained access to the hardware for it.
Loading a Drive (Inserting it into a slot), takes an action to do.   Installing a Drive (Once inserted, can be done on a short rest). Multiple may be installed at the same time.   Discovering what is on an unknown Drive takes having Computer Skills and 30 minutes of devoted time to bypass encryption. This can be done for others.   Unknown Drives can be used (They do provide a 'target' information of Self, Single Target, or Multiple Targets) which requires an Action, Bonus Action, Reaction, or Installation, as per Drive.   Damaged Cores and Drive Slots can be repaired only by properly trained individuals, although it is rumored that a good rigger could make them work for a period of time when they shouldn't still function.
Upgrades Possible: Video recording, camera feed, bio-metric updates, music player, directional mic, motion sensor, auto-mapper, planner, and various other features.
