The Faerie Kingdoms
he Fae are an ancient force within the world of Daënfel. The many stories of their kind date as early as the Dagnir Sen, and much of what is known about them has passed to history and folklore over the ages. Where the Fae were once said to hold court with the earliest of the Galweni kings, that is no longer the case. As Man has slowly brought civilization to the many corners of this world, the raw primal powers of the Faerie Courts have receded to the wilds, far from Empire society. Legends tell of the conflicts that arose between the Fae and Man, as this world was explored and tamed in the name of the Avanís Pantheon. Faeries are split into two groups that are diametrically opposed - the Seelie of the Sun and the Unseelie of the Moon. Where the Seelie are fabled as friendly Fae who welcomed the First Men to this world, the Unseelie and mirthful tricksters who struck bargains with mortals and tempted them with dangerous delights. There are many Faerie Courts that comprise the Seelie and Unseelie. Largest of all are the Courts of the four seasons - Spring & Summer of the Seelie, and Autumn & Winter of the Unseelie. There are a plethora of smaller Fae Courts that have existed across history, though the names of many have been lost to time or destroyed in conflicts with Man. Known for their power over the elements and ability to commune with the many living creations of Daënfel, Fae courts tend to be held in ancient trees within the great forests of the continent, and protect themselves by calling on nature's aid in times of strife. Today, the Fae tend to keep to themselves as much as possible; it is exceedingly rare for any mortal to see a Fae-kin, let alone interact with one. Furthermore, Faeries today are far less tolerant of mortal aggression or requests, particularly that which comes from Humans. The last known mention of the Fae came from a group of orcish loggers in the far north of Avlar's Folly, who saw one of the Fae with a Strix warband amongst the foothills of the Rhakhis.
