Death's Corridor

This narrow pass is the only land route that connects the area surrounding Avalon, The Lost City at the northern end of Avlar's Folly to the Northern Rhakhis Peaks.   A steam-filled cleft between the mountains, this refuge is filled with hot springs, protecting those within from the elements. Purple and orange moss hangs from the sheer cliff-faces on either side of the Corridor, and this location is said to be one of the few locations that the Daughter's Bloom grows - a rare orchid with powerful healing properties used in worship to Death.   This place is the domain of the Strix - of the iitari in their own language - a species of winged, avian-like humanoids with sharp, angular features and large eyes that are typically black from sclera to pupil. These reclusive, tribal people keep to the elevated springs and plateaus at the higher cliffs of Death's Corridor, keeping a watchful eye on those who attempt to cross the pass below.   The Strix are adverse to the race of Man, bearing a deep resentment to the last king of Avalon who single-handedly decimated their people as he passed northward, before the ancient city fell.
