CAMPAIGN PREMISE

The team forms around a murder to be solved. A task force is created to solve the mystery.



 

Character Questionnaire

Please copy the below questions. Answer them all privately, I would prefer a Word doc or PDF copy and not a message in Discord or text. Then send me that file. I know some of them you may think you need my input, you don't. This is for you to shape the campaign a bit


    • Do you trust your superior?
    • Will/have you take/taken a bribe? If so, where do you draw the line?
    • Will/have you steal/stolen from a scene of a crime?
    • Will/have you plant/planted evidence?
    • Do you prefer dead or alive in apprehending a prep, even dangerous ones?
    • Will you murder a defenseless prep? Are there lines you won't cross?
    • Do you have an addiction (drugs, booze, gambling, sex, etc.)? Does anyone know about it?
    • Do you trust your partner?
    • List what answers your partner knows about you from the above.
    • What keeps you calm/unstressed?



STARTING STATS

55pts. only one stat can be over 8. No stat can be below 2.



ROLES

The only allowed roles are: Cop, Techie, Solo, Netrunner, and Medtechie

STARTING SKILLS

All characters will have basic training. These skills start at these values to reflect this:

    • Handgun 2
    • Martial Arts(choose one: Aikido, Sambo, Judo, Wrestling) 2
    • Athletics 2
    • General Know./Education 2

Special ability cannot be over 6. Only one skill can be above 6 to start with.

No skill can be higher than its governing stat unless it is the one skill that is above 6 (ex. Education/General Know is limited to 0-3 if the character's INT is 3).

40pts are allocated to the career skills. 20pts for pick up skill.



LIFE EVENTS

For age of a character, roll randomly or select a specific age. Character should be a minimum of 20 to reflect training and education. Every year above 16 should have an event an event happen. You can use my https://cybersmily.net/apps/lifepath , but use the Protect and Serve as a the source and check the "Check to have all years eventful" box.

Contacts

Everyone will have a few contacts from the profession. These will be colleagues, contacts in other departments, confidential informant, or other people you form a professional relationship with. These are not your friends nor do they owe you a favor, those you can still get from Life Events. You can choose and describe up to 1 per 2 years over 18 and 1 for each rank of your special ability. I will generate their capability, reputation, availability and reliability once you have given me the list. Do not tell me about them other than how you acquired them. They will be similar to Fixer contacts from Wildside.

Examples: My character is 25 years old which gives me (25 - 18)/2 = 3.5 round up to 4. My Authority is 5. I get 9 contacts.

  • low-level dealer - I busted them for selling but they helped with another crime investigation, so I let them off easy.
  • Councilman of the City - I worked security detail for the councilor during their campaign and talked a bit.
  • Corporate VP with a related field - I was at a seminar where VP was demoing the new eye scanner and struck up a conversation.
  • Lieutenant in a different precinct - They were my first partner before getting promoted.
  • Captain in a different precinct - I went to the academy with their kid and continue to keep in touch.
  • Special Agent in LEDiv - I was on a special task force with the agent and worked together.
  • Club owner - I turn a blind eyed on the narcotics at his place can get free drinks in return.
  • Hotel manager - to many crimes happen at that joint, might as well get friendly with the staff.
  • Trauma Team pilot - Save my ass during a heat firefight. We were the only ones that survived.



STARTING CYBEWARE

2,000eb worth of cyberware to start. Surgery cost is not required.

HOW ABOUT FULL CONVERSION?

I will allow a full conversion. However you will suffer penalties. The character will also be considered to be "sold out" , which will include all that comes with that. The character will be under a 10 year contract, with bonuses reducing that time. These rules are for game balance as you will be starting way ahead of the rest of the players.

START STATS

You must distribute 25pts between INT, COOL, EMP, TECH, LUCK. You must have EMP above 2 to remain on the force, so roll the humanity cost first, then set EMP to the proper value. Only EMP can be above 8. if the HC is greater than or equal to 80, then it will be reduced to 79 so that you can have a EMP 3/10.

STARTING SKILLS

You only get 25pts for career skills and 10pts for pick up skills. You still get basic training skills. This is a total of 43 skill points, compared to the 68 points by not being a FBC.

STARTING GEAR & FUNDS

None. You are the property of Night City/Corporation at the beginning of the campaign. You live in the precinct and are expected to "sleep" there. Disappearing or staying out for more than 48 hours without returning to the precinct, Max-Tac will be escorting you back to be evaluated by the shrink. 72hrs without coming back, your body will be shut down remotely and Max Tac will be issued orders to get you off the street one way or another. They prefer the one way they know. You will also be required permission to leave Night City greater area. You can remain within NC central and the six suburbs (SNC, Pacifica, Rancho Coronado, Heywood, North Oak, Westbrook). Other limits will be role played out on what you can and can't do as it is a "need to know" basis, and your character doesn't need to know.

Available FBCs
    • Alpha (16d6 HC) - Available for all officers.
    • Enforcer(21d6 - 2 HC ) - Only available for Tactical or Patrol officers
    • Gemini (16d6 + 2|+4 HC) - Only available for Investigation, specifically if undercover works is required.


STARTING GEAR & FUNDS

Most gear can be acquired from the precinct. Depending on the piece of gear may require approval. In addition, there will be starting funds of 2,000eb. It will be assumed you have your own apartment and will be covered by your salary. It will be in the moderate zone, 1 bedroom.

POLICE ISSUED GEARED

Depending on the position and rank of the officer will determine what the are assigned as service weapons and gear.
