Downtime and Services
▶ Downtime
Each month Lifestyle and Housing is paid(the first month is paid for free during chargen), awards a base 28 Downtime Days (DTD) + bonus/penalty based on housing. A character doesn't get DTDs if they are living on the street. DTDs can be saved up across multiple months. Medias get additional DTD = their Credibility rank that can only be used on screamsheets and are lost if not used that month. DTDs may be spent on a variety of actions such as:• Healing: In exchange for 1 DTD, a character heals for their BODY stat.
• Hustle: In exchange for 7 DTDs, The Hustle [PG. 381] can be rerolled one time.
• Therapy: In exchange for 7 DTDs, a Character may undergo therapy [PG. 229] or assist with therapy (if a Medtech) once. Medtechs cannot provide therapy to themselves.
• Repair/Upgrade/Fabricate: 1 DTD represents 1 day of work. 1 DTD = 12 hours for downtime activities that take less than 1 day.
• Services cost 1 DTD per 12 hours of work. Services that take less than 1 day still cost 1 DTD. It is the minimum DTD cost for a service. Multiple small services can be combined so long as they do not exceed 12 hours of work.
• Sourcing/Selling gear doesn’t cost any DTD unless it's a service, in which case it costs 1 DTD per transaction. Fixer deal’s cost no additional DTD.
▶ Services
Characters of different players can assist each other in a variety of ways. Each one of these is called a Service. Characters receive 20IP for each 7 DTD spent providing services.▶ Fixer:
Setting up a Night Market (7 DTD). Sourcing or Selling gear for someone else. Fixer deals that are part of sourcing or selling gear (as a service) costs no extra DTD, but otherwise costs 1 DTD if made as a standalone service.▶ Media:
Once per month. One or more Media PCs can come together to publish a screamsheet about the jobs and events that happened that month. Each Media must spend a minimum of 7 DTD per screamsheet but can choose to spend more if they like/can. Each article in a screamsheet is published with the Media’s name and Credibility roll. After it's published, each contributing author gets the standard service reward. Medias get additional DTD = their Credibility rank that can only be used on screamsheets and are lost if not used that month.▶ Medtech:
Surgery, Therapy, or Installing/Uninstalling cyberware. ○ Cryotanks have 21 DTD. A MedTech can rent out a Cryotank similar to a service. However, it does not accrue IP for the MedTech.▶ Tech:
Repairing, Fabricating, or Upgrading gear for someone else. The person obtaining the service must pay the price of materials for Fabrication, Upgrade, Therapy, etc.Role Abilities
▶ Backup (Lawman Role Ability)
• If the Backup roll fails, the Action is immediately refunded and future attempts in this beat receive a cumulative -1 bonus to Backup rolls in this beat.• Backup can only be attempted once per Turn.
▶ Maker (Tech Role Ability)
• Only Upgrade Inventions are currently allowed. Homebrew items can be pitched but they would be items available from vendors normally.▶ Medical Tech (Pharmaceuticals)
• Surge gives +1 DTD per dose. Only 1 dose can be administered per week up to a maximum of 4 per month.• Cryotanks have 21 DTD each. Unused DTD on a Cryotank does not roll over like normal DTD.
• Antibiotics changes: A character injected with Antibiotics may immediately spend up to 7DTD to heal. The character heals +2 health for each DTD spent this way.
▶ Moto (Nomad Role Ability)
• Whenever a Nomad increases their Moto Rank, they can choose to replace any number of stock vehicles and/or vehicle upgrades gained from previous Moto Ranks with something they can get now.• Nomads have Speed Boats available to them at Role Rank 4.
• Speed boats are now eligible for housing upgrades.
▶ Teamwork (Exec Role Ability)
• Instead of rolling for Team Member’s STATs, any row in their respective STAT array table can be chosen.• At Teamwork Rank 4, the Exec is given a monthly stipend of 300eb that can only be spent on Lifestyle. Any amount not spent that month is lost.
• New Team Members start with 4 Loyalty
▶ Night Market
• One or more Fixers at Operator Rank 5+ can set up a Night Market once per month that lasts for 7 days/nights. Instead of rolling, each Fixer that participates in setting up a night market can choose a single type of goods sold from the first table on PAGE 338, then roll 1d6 and add ranks in Operator, to determine the number of items stocked from the chosen category. Each choice must be different. If there are 6 Fixers setting up a Night Market, all types of goods are available. Next, follow the instructions for “On The Shelves”, but use the table provided below. If any result calls for an item of GM’s choice, the Fixer can make that choice. Fixers who helped set up a Night Market can source up to Super Luxury items from the selected Type of Goods for that Night Market.• Setting up a Night Market costs 7 DTDs from each Fixer involved and counts as a Service.
• Midnight Markets have 1d10+5 number of Luxury or Super Luxury items from any category. The Fixer(s) decide what items and how many are on sale.
▶Lifestyle and Housing
A Character that gets even just one game must pay their Lifestyle and Housing costs at the beginning of the next month. The first month after character creation is free [PG. 105]. If a character didn’t have any jobs this month then they don’t need to pay for Lifestyle and Housing in the following month, they are considered to have scraped together and made ends meet.DTDs and luck only refill if rent is paid.
▶ Lifestyle
Please be sure to review the Lifestyle section of the book [PG. 377] that details what each level of glamorous living unlocks for your character.▶ Housing
• Roommates: Characters can be roommates with other players’ Characters. Having roommates allows Characters to divide the rent. The maximum number of roommates a domicile can accommodate is in the following chart. Paying rent is not optional. If any tenant fails to pay rent, the others have to cover the cost, or all tenants are evicted.• Renting Owned Property: No.
• Bonus DTD: Characters get a DTD bonus/penalty for the month based on their housing as long as they live in it. Bonus DTDs are divided equally among all tenants, with any undividable ones being allotted to the winner of a 1d10 roll. Living on the street gives no DTD for the month.
