She feels a kinship with cats, and so had various body modification to suits her feelings. Cat ears, cat eyes, cat tail, cat claws. It all makes her into what she truly wants to be: a cat girl. Of course, this was all done in her youth, back when she still had access to that sweet corporation money.

Her family managed a small part of a corporation, and so were never in need of money. Her sister Mei was born with a degenerative disease that funneled a lot of the family money into medical care, a sister Hanabi loved dearly. When her family was betrayed by a close associate, sending them into exile, her mother and father committed suicide to avoid the life of destitute that awaited them. Hanabi, ever resourceful and willing to do almost anything, quickly took hold of the last remaining family fortune to keep paying for her sister's medical care, leaving nothing for herself. Left to fend for herself at 19 years old, she accepted any kind of job and scrapped as much money as she could to help pay for her sister's medical bill. Her sister Mei, working freelance net runner job from her hospital bed, taught her everything she knew of the business when her condition worsened to the point where she could no longer work. Her stripper name became her handle when she started taking care of netrunner jobs her sister could no longer take care of, and so Nyaomi took the virtual stage. She still dances at the club, still serves drink, still works at the cat cafe in the morning sometimes, but all of that money goes to her sister's bill. She hopes to someday make enough money to finance more research into her sister's disease and perhaps cure her, or maybe get her a new body and transfer her consciousness into a clone. No matter the method, she just wants her sister to have a normal life in night city. As shitty as a normal life in night city can be, it'd still be better than staying in a hospital bed all day. If her sister was to die before she can accomplish that, well... There's no telling what Nyaomi would to then, as her entire adult life as been centered toward that goal.

Like most people in nightcity, she's out for herself. And her sister. She would never harm anyone without a good reason, physically or otherwise, but "good" is such a realtive adjective.   You dont touch cats tho. Cats just wanna get on with their lives, only sick people hurt cats and thats reason enough for her to hurt in return.

At first glance, one would think she cares for nothing but money. The truth is that nothing is more important than her family. Her sister is her only motivation, and she will display the same devotion to anyone she considers family.
