Eve's parents are evangelical Christians (who would've guessed), so she never really got the option to be open about anything with them. She always hated the idea of getting married, but she grew up believing it was her only option. Her parents always emphasized the importance of finding a husband while going to college, and Eve just kind of went along with it, not realizing she didn't actually have to do those things.
She unfortunately learned about the lgbt community when she was about 11 and she watched her mom very negatively overreact to seeing a gay couple in a commercial. She went on a yelling rampage and all Eve really made out from it was how 'the gays are gonna burn in hell'. Her mom even had her swear that she 'wouldn't become one of them'.
Of course, this was a rather traumatic event for a girl still figuring out her sexuality. Naturally, when she suddenly realized she'd developed feelings for a girl, she repressed that crap. It wasn't until seventh grade when she got tired of faking and decided to be out at school. She had to put up with a lot of gossip, but no one was ever needlessly cruel. This made it a lot easier for Eve to become more confident in her identity, since she knew not everyone felt the same way her parents did. She hasn't come out to her family, and she doesn't plan on doing so until she's moved out for safety reasons.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
