Aurora Champions
Summary
The Shenian seer Baba Amar-Sin collapsed at the altar, blood flowed from his eyes and lightning flashed from his body. A week later, he woke and proclaimed, "A dark hand reaches at us from the abyss, a shadow from lands beyond the control of death, departure, and ruination.
"Endless pain follows beginningless suffering. The whole world will shatter, burning away into little more than ashes blowing int he wind. Cities like sandstorms will rage against the skin of Nalea tearing flesh from bone, and rending joints apart.
"In the dawnless morn, an aurora breaks over the horizon from the hearts of the champions who will rise to stand against the storm. Only thy can keep the embers of this world glowing and prevent life's extinction."
Historical Basis
Baba Amar-Sin was a Watcher to the Respected Ilusha-Hegal in the sacred precinct of Bairiyah. When the people gathered to celebrate the Fest of Whispers, Amar-Sin stepped up to the altar to offer the sacrifice when he was struck down by a vision. Power arced from his body, shattering the altar.
He struggled in the vision for days. Any who approached him was struck down by the power than had overtaken him.
When he finally awoke, he spoke the words of the prophecy and the vision that haunted him to the end of his days.
Spread
Whispers of the prophecy followed the trade routes out of Ashanaer. Versions of the prophecy were written in the Nadee Jheel, Cishan, Yang Shao, and as far away as Proitania and Mancai. Even the Tugwattles at Mount Ameslin wrote their own version.
Every version claimed to source a witness of the proclamation and a few even claimed to be written by Baba Amar-sin himself.
Variations & Mutation
The only shared elements of the varied versions of the story is the looming catastrophe and the rise of the chosen ones, the Aurora Champions who will harness the remaining light of the world to save it from darkness.
