All but one of a group of demon children disappear from a town in Gemede.

A group of children playing a game of hide and seek. The youngest, Byorn, is found in his hiding space by a black shadow that whispers, "Found you!" before he is drawn into darkness. Four of the five children disappear under similar circumstances, leaving only the eldest, who had left the area find help when unable to locate his playmates.
