Ymirskjeder

Discovery of this metal begun when artificers and explorers found an ancestral tomb on the coasts of the Dragon's Eye Isle. Buried deep beneath the mountainous regions of Norden rests a rare metal made from an old deity's glacial encasing. Freezing to the touch, this newly discovered metal will be used to craft the Draigi's arsenal in the future of their warfare; their armaments, along with their siege weaponry, will see new use and more prominent efficiency when this material becomes widespread, a future the other races try desperately to prevent.   Luckily the acquisition of this metal is a long arduous process, and as far as commerce goes, is wildly expensive. The mines made to go deep enough below are unstable, and infested with monsters from within the deep corners of the earth. A pickaxe needed to mine it must be heated to furnace temperatures, and even thereafter the ore has been released, the unrefined metal freezes the holder's palms upon touching. Only the saliva from the humble countryside cattle of Norden are capable of dispelling this enchantment placed upon the metal, and thus the livestock are kept outside the mines to await their duties.   The refinement and forging process is in itself no easy task, and requires protection, and a hot forge, to assure the smith's safety; none have died, but it's a process the Draigi prefer to not have to suffer through. Weaponry, tools, and armor, made from this material are identified by the silver color of the metal, and the luminous blue scars glowing from imperfections and weathering it has undergone. Scars run with these weapons leave trails of frost over the wound, numbing the area; a common use among berserkers, and an ideal material for archers. Ymirskjeder armor struck run the chance of bursting out frost from the damages made, ideal for fending off attackers, especially those reliant on speed and agility.   "Ymir's awakening and reconstruction upon another planet so long ago has left it's mark upon Corwyrm's creation. While his influence ceases, the fruits of his existence plague the inhabitants of this young world, threatening to be weaponized for war, and aim to lead to it's eventual self-destruction. Though a race aiming for their own place in the world, their ignorance to the powers beyond the aurora will lead to the end of a cycle they intended to prolong." ~[A stanza never to be found.]
Ymirskjeder, or commonly referred to as Skjeder or Chains by the historically uneducated, is a metal that signifies the importance of many characters in the Draigi community, namely the Highlords, and a few dangerous dragons. The Brinnande draigi had their prospectors relocate up North to engage a mass production of the material; while many are perishing in the effort, the yield of metal is merely only twice as productive as it initially was before. Sjel believes the efforts will be worth it, as he plans on using the material to focus into a warship capable of destroying the Nympha city of Highwall; a perfect unison of fire and ice.
