Summer Camp 2025
Week One Homework
Nourishment
Think about ways the theme of Nourishment affects your world. Do people generally have what they need? What happens when they don’t?
Corrigenda
Most people in Corrigenda are able to find the nourishment they need. Whether it is from the crops they grow, meat they hunt, or the animals they raise for meat, dairy, and eggs. For those who don't have what they need they are likely to turn to banditry and/or raiding the local towns, cities, or caravans/traders.
Corwynya
The people of Corwynya sometimes struggle to meet their nutritional needs. There are subsistence farmers who are heavily taxed by the nobility, however, there are those who are minor nobility and woodsmen who can avoid the taxes to some degree. For those who are not lucky enough to have what they need, they have three options. The first is to join a guild and become an adventurer earning rewards to be able to purchase what they need. The second is to become a beggar and rely on the charity of others. The third option is the one most likely to end poorly is to become a highwayman or a raider and steal what they need from others.
Week Two Homework
Roots
Find your earliest worldbuilding project. What mistakes did you make that you want to avoid? What good ideas from those early days can you integrate into your current project?
Corrigenda
I am planning on filling out the culture for my dragons. It was one of the first articles I did in my first summer camp and I realize I hadn't really given it enough thought at the time. I plan on completely redoing the article with more in depth information about their culture and the way they are integral to the world as the first species on the planet. I will give more history to them as well with the introduction of a historian.
Corwyna
Here I am likely to explain the intercultural interactions between the major races, Elves, Dwarves, and Humans.
Both
Looking at some of my first articles I realize that there is so much more I can do to make them pretty... lol. That said I need to remember the details. I found that my best articles were those that developed more interest and drew the readers into asking for more.
Week Three Homework
Metamorphasis
What transformations and adaptations have the people in your world gone through? What changes are going on right now… and who is trying to stop them?
Corrigenda
Corrigenda has gone through wars, new species popping up out of nowhere, and the creation of a peacekeeping order. Currently the Order of the Druids is at a point where it could teeter into evil or remain the preservation or of peace as it was intended. There are a handful of those who wish to see the order restored to its original prominence and purpose. However, the majority within the order are looking for power and control over the world.
Corwynya
Within the world there has been a major political shift where one race was displaced by another. The displaced race wishes to return to the mainland while those who displaced them would rather see them remain where they are. There are factions in all the races that would like to see the return of the Elves, while others are desperate to maintain the status quo.
Choose a new genre, style, or author, and take a look at their art! Write what you learned from them and what inspired you.
I decided to look into music I would not normally listen too. I found this one a little difficult since I listen to pretty much anything. However, I did find something that that I normally don't listen too, as in I have heard some of the genre and found it distasteful. That said I decided to give death metal another try. What I found is that listening to it makes my stomach turn and therefore is only useful when I am trying induce that feeling into my readers.
Week Four Homework
Tomorrow
Think about current events that will have an impact the on the future. Who is working to create a specific kind of future?
Corrigenda
Within Corrigenda all three of the major species are trying to maintain their population, though the threat of impending full scale war between the Dragons and Humans has the Fae worried about their own survival. Even with the war pending there are groups of humans who side with the dragons in order to maintain "humanitarian" relief efforts. The main group of humans the dragons wish to eliminate are the Druids and those who have allied themselves with them. There is a faction within the Druid Order who wish to diffuse the situation however their leader holds power within an iron fist. Those who speak out against him are quietly silenced, permanently.
Corwynya
There are rumours of impending war resurfacing between the Elves and the Dwarves. Other creatures within the world are sympathetic to both sides however are not in any position to assist due to geographic locations. The humans are trying to find a solution acceptable to both sides.
Who or what will help you achieve your goal? What will your sharing strategy be during Summer Camp?
I plan on streaming my work and sitting in other worldbuilding streams to maximize my writing time. This means others who are working on Summer Camp will keep me focused and rooting me on. As for my sharing strategy I will be sharing articles in other streams, as well as posting that I have published on World Anvil. I also plan on sharing my work within my chapter on the WA Discord and in the Summer Camp channel there as well.
Best of luck for your summer camp goals - go get that silver! And may the prompts be in your favor.
