Bread

My grandfather once told me bread was eaten by everyone. I didn't believe him until I did my own research on the subject. He was correct, bread is found in every culture. However there are so many different types of bread eaten it is hard to mention them all.

History

With the grinding of grain into flour, bread became a universal staple. Originally it was just flat breads, until one day a farmer and his family had to leave the bread and help a foaling mare. Upon returning to the house they discovered that the bread had risen. The wife not wanting to waste the dough punched it down and cut it up to set into pans. By the time she had the oven ready for the bread it had risen again, instead of punching it down again she placed into the oven to bake. When the bread came out of the oven she let it cool and cut into it to serve the family at dinner. The family spread the word to everyone they knew about it. Those they told, spread the word as well.

With the spread of the information about leavened bread each nation chose whether they would adopt it or not. Herigmark and Gaullium chose to use both, Craglim Reach chose to use only the leavened bread, Shay chose to use flat breads, but Thormalk decided to use which ever one was ready to bake at the time of baking. Thormalk's reasoning was it all depended on whether or not they had to leave the dough for an emergency or not. The fae and dragons are indifferent about the bread. They eat whatever they have on hand. The fae cultures such as the dwarves depend on their bakers for their daily bread consumption.
