The Shroud of Insanity
The Shroud of Insanity is a faint, otherworldly cloak that distorts reality around it. Faces and forms swim within its translucent folds, whispering barely audible warnings and nonsensical phrases.
Ward of the Inscrutable Mind
Effect: While attuned to the Shroud of Insanity, the wearer gains immunity to being charmed or frightened. Additionally, creatures targeting the wearer with spells or attacks have disadvantage if the wearer is obscured (light cover, invisibility, etc.).
Psychic Disruption
Activation: Once per long rest, as an action, the wearer can release a wave of chaotic psychic energy. Each creature of the wearer’s choice within a 10-foot radius must make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or suffer one of the following effects (wearer chooses the effect):
Confusion: The target must roll on the Confusion spell table at the start of its turn for 1d4 rounds.
Horrified: The target is frightened of the wearer for 1 minute. A frightened creature may repeat its saving throw at the end of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
Limitations: The wearer must concentrate on the effect (as if concentrating on a spell), or it ends prematurely.
Possession's Price
Effect: The Shroud shields its wearer from possession attempts, repelling ethereal creatures within 10 feet. However, for every possession attempt (successful or not), the wearer risks madness. After three attempts, the wearer begins to suffer mild hallucinations and must roll on the short-term Madness table after each long rest until the attunement is removed.
