Nalavarauthatoryl the Undying
“When green fire fell from the skies, Suzail trembled, and a thousand roots tore from the earth to answer her call.”
Overview
Nalavarauthatoryl the Undying was an ancient green dragon who attacked
Cormyr in 1371 DR, leading the infamous assault on
Suzail during the Year of the Unstrung Harp. Cunning, patient, and brutally intelligent, she harboured an abiding hatred of the
Obarskyr line and all who bore their name.
She was more than a beast of claw and venom; she was a schemer, a master of subtle domination, and a student of ancient magic. Her lair beneath the Starspire Mountains was said to be a maze of living roots, elven wards, and stolen relics of the Feywild.
Creation of the Ghazneths
In the years before her final campaign, Nalavarauthatoryl took part in a dark pact with a forgotten chronomancer. With his aid, she enacted a ritual that awakened seven traitors of
Cormyr's past, turning them into the monstrous Ghazneths. These creatures were bound to stolen fey power, each echoing a force long kept at bay by ancient seals.
Defeat and Legacy
Nalavarauthatoryl was slain during the Battle of
Suzail, her body hurled into the Crown Swamp by the combined forces of the
Purple Dragons,
War Wizards, and adventuring allies. Yet the scars she left on the Weave remain. The Ghazneths, though destroyed, carried a corruption that never fully faded.
Some scholars believe her ritual work permanently altered the flow of magic beneath
Cormyr, entangling the realm's fate with ancient powers long thought dormant.
