Josidiah Starym

Champion of Myth Drannor. Seeker of the Soldier’s Blade.

Overview

Josidiah Starym was a sun elf bladesinger of Myth Drannor, renowned for his honour, devotion, and tragic sacrifice. A member of the esteemed House Starym, he lived during the height of Myth Drannor's glory and sought to unite martial discipline with the arcane beauty of elven tradition.
He is best remembered for his quest to recover the Soldier’s Blade, a legendary elven relic, in hopes of proving himself worthy to wed Aravae Irithyl, daughter of the Coronal of Cormanthyr.

The Soldier’s Blade

When the original blade was lost in battle, Josidiah offered to retrieve it or fall in the attempt. His journey took him deep into the Underdark, where he and his companions faced drow ambushes and unknowable horrors. Though he succeeded in recovering the blade, Josidiah vanished in the final conflict, believed to have sacrificed himself so others might escape. His fate remains uncertain, though many believe his spirit watches still over the forests of Cormanthor.

Legacy

Josidiah is remembered in Myth Drannor and beyond as a paragon of elven virtue—devoted to his people, to beauty, and to service above pride. His actions helped preserve the soul of his house, even as the rest of the Starym line became embroiled in darker ambitions.
Tales persist that in his youth, Josidiah journeyed beyond the bounds of Cormanthyr. One weathered etching, discovered in the ruins of a long-lost fortress, depicts a bladesinger beside a halfling gambler, a grey-robed wizard with stars on his cloak, and a necromancer in black. Scrawled faintly beneath are four names: Bryton Taysith, Josidiah Starym, Adzerak Azurael, Elminster Aumar.
Whether this represents a true account or bardic fancy, none can say for certain. But if true, it marks Josidiah as one who stood among living legends.

Rumours and Remembrance

A shrine to Josidiah lies hidden beneath the trees near Myth Drannor, its stones overgrown but undisturbed.
Some say the Soldier’s Blade still lies where he fell, guarded by spirits who remember his final vow.
Elven bards speak his name in songs of sacrifice, always in the soft tones reserved for the noblest fallen.

“He walked into the dark with light in his hand and never looked back.”
