“They weren’t meant for them…” A sharp breath, as though speaking costs her.
“My machines were for healing—repairing tissue, saving lives. Not for… whatever the Company is doing.”
She shakes her head, fingers curling into fists.
“I should have seen it. Should have known. I handed them the keys and now—” Her voice cracks, a choked sound breaking through. “Now my work is poison.”
