Zareb-Faroo War

This conflicted pitted the new kingdom of the Faroo against the Zalarite ruled Kingdom of Zareb. The Zalarites saw the establishment of the Kingdom of the Faroo as a double threat. First, it disprupted their own plan to establish control over the frontier region. Second, they saw Atheneis Majara as an appendage of Alyite Order who would strengthen the Order's power in the lands north of the Spine. The Zalarites organized an army and negotiated its passage through severla northern kingdoms including Karmis. Receiving warning far in advance of the invasion Queen Atheneis Majara of the Faroo threw herself into preparations. Large numbers of mercenaries were hired, an Alyite contingent was brought north and troops were levied among the clans of the Faroo. Atheneis identified the relatively narrow Arendar Pass on the border of the Faroo and Karmis as the key choke point that needed to be secured. Athenies soon set her troops to rendering the Pass defensible. A ditch backed by an earthen rampart topped with a palisade was built across the mile width of the pass.
When the Zalarite army finally arrived at Arendar it quickly attacked. The cavalry heavy Zalarite Army was forced to dismount to attack the defenses and launched two successive efforts to breech the defenses. Both efforts failed and Atheneis was able to launch a counterattack. The Zalarites soon found themselves exhausted, surrounded and cut off from their supply train. At this point the Zalarites were forced to seek terms resulting in a mass surrender of the attacking army. All but the top Zalarite officers were paroled and the rank and file were offered land grants if they remained in the Faroo as settlers.
