The B'pano are a people who live on a distant desert planet. The world they live in is barely habitable at best, with nearly all of the world being covered in vast swaths of brutal desert. The B'pano people have lived in harmony for generations, sustained by the life-giving waters of the delta and the miraculous properties of the Kalodté plant. But when a group of outsiders arrives, bringing with them technology and greed, everything changes. The extraterrestrials, led by a man named Kavon, are determined to exploit the Kalodté for their own gain, no matter the cost. They offer the B'pano a deal: hand over the rights to the plant, and they'll provide the B'pano with advanced technology and protection. But some citizens are suspicious of Kavon's true intentions. With all of these tensions boiling, the second in command of the people goes behind the king's back to hand over the Kalodté along with his few supporters. After this, the king was assassinated by Kavon, and little technology was actually handed over to the people. The second in command (who was now king) kept the technology all to himself rather than spreading it through the people to keep power. Outraged by this corruption, a group of the strongest warriors tried to overthrow him, but with the newfound technology, they were no match. The rest of their group couldn't take any more and split with the population to start anew in the mountains. Not much later, much of the religious community split as well, for fear of the B'pano straying from God. They now are secretive nomadic zealots living in the desert. Meanwhile, Kavon is stripping this planet of its few resources and secretly capturing and enslaving people to work in his mines. Will the B'pano people ever make peace and rise against Kavon, or will they remain split until the end of time? Will the people ever get Kalodté back? All questions will be answered.
