Compass Directions on Confluence

It takes only a glance at the map to realise that Confluence is, indeed, a flat world. It sits on top of a spike of the Elemental Plane of Earth at a point where all four elemental planes converge, and is bounded by fire, water and air.   This means that the locals define their sense of direction very differently to the way we do ! There is also a certain elasticity, or lack of consistency, in the way they define directions.   The three cardinal points of the compass as Airward, Seaward and Fireward. Halfway points are defined by mixing the terms (in a way similar to ours). Thus, where we would say Northeast, they say Sea-Fireward.   Any time they are moving towards the centre of Confluence (loosely defined as towards Sharrow's Hold or the Landspike Mountains, the inhabitants might give a cardinal direction (e.g. Airward), but they are just as likely to say Centreward, Sharrow-ward or Holdward. As I said, a lack of consistency - it's what humans do !
