High Lightborn Elves

Written by thebookwormmila

T he High Lightborn Elves are among the eldest peoples of Comhlaidir, a lineage steeped in myth, reverence, and an aura of timelessness. They trace their ancestry back to the dawn era, when the first sun rose over the land and scattered its rays across the crystal plains. They believe themselves to be born of that first light—pure, radiant, and enduring.

High Lightborn Elves are tall and statuesque, often standing a head above other elven kin. Their skin carries a luminous quality, sometimes faintly glowing in moonlight or when they call upon their ancestral magic. Their hair ranges from silvery-white to radiant gold, with rare hues of pale fire or dawn-pink. Their eyes shine like gemstones—amber, sapphire, or opalescent silver—marking them as beings touched by the eternal sun.

The Lightborn culture revolves around illumination, both literal and metaphorical. They believe enlightenment of the spirit is as important as mastery of craft or magic. Knowledge, artistry, and philosophy are woven into their everyday lives. Their societies are meticulously structured around Houses, each devoted to a branch of the “Great Radiance”: wisdom, artistry, guardianship, healing, and transcendence. Lightborn communities are typically built upon high plateaus, mountain ridges, or crystal fields where the sun’s rays linger the longest. Their architecture is seamless white stone and crystalline glass, designed to refract and amplify light. Festivals often coincide with solstices and equinoxes, moments when their ancestral bond to the heavens feels strongest. To others in Comhlaidir, the High Lightborn Elves embody both awe and distance. Many admire their grace, wisdom, and mastery of ancient magic, but also see them as aloof, unyielding, or burdened by their own sense of destiny. Younger races sometimes accuse them of arrogance, while the Lightborn simply regard themselves as custodians of truths too ancient to be bent by fleeting change.

High Lightborn ruins and monuments scatter Comhlaidir, often preserved in near-pristine condition despite their age.

Author's Notes

I tried playing with CSS/BBC coding... spent three hours... didn't turn out good. I will keep trying tho! This is just the start of the Lightborn Elves! Want to write more about them and actually flesh out my ideas, just need more time!
