The Chikau
All those born within the Vae Dynasty are born of a neutral
clan status. They enjoy their youth playing, learning and
making friends that may stay with them their entire lives. It is
the most peaceful time for all children of Vae. This lasts until
they come of age. There is no set age; it is a state of the soul
telling them they are ready. Almost like a supernatural force
letting them know.
This is when one attends The Chikau. Alongside your
closest and dearest, you walk beneath the blossoms. As the
petals fall one will find the blossoms that belong to the clan
you'll be accepted into fall on your shoulders and hair. The
others will fall at your feet. You are now chosen by a clan and
next comes a ritualistic marking of one's soul. Sorcerers from
all over the Dynasty come and perform the ritual and the
process leaves the target exhausted for days afterward.
During this ritual, the soul will be presented before the
sorcerers who will leave the mark of the clan chosen upon
them.
There are also those known as the Wakai, those that no
blossoms chose. They tend to the everyday life of the dynasty,
farming, construction working for the clans in one form or
another. The Wakai is a life of giving to the dynasty without
the dangerous roles of the Clans and is still as respected as
much as any in a given Clan.
