Overview
This is what Chuk’ruani is now. It is a sprawling melting pot
of the shifter and kenku communities that have been
squashed together, forced to flee their past, and have to adapt
together in a newly forged land. The long standing buildings,
ziggurats, and tree-top settlements are made by the Kenku
crafts, and newer buildings on the outskirts are designed by
and for the Shifters. Some cities' Shifter population is still
mainly tents after their migrating south.
The population is heavy, after the migration from the north the south became busy. The cities are grid-like in design built around a huge temple ziggurat. A massive stepped pyramid structure with the shrine of the great sky birds built atop of it.
The temples were built many times over and always on top of the older one, this led to the inside being very layered in an odd way. Houses are interlinked with long logs and divided mud stone walls, the roof tops made of long grass and sticks. The shifters brought their tent towns and villages and bolted them on to the Kenku cities, masses of canvas and wooden poles make up the spreading landscape about the stone cities.
The heavy jungles that dominate the landscape teem with life, a world beyond Colossus. It is the place one goes to seek knowledge of a time when only behemoths roamed, civilization had not yet been gifted to the races upon the world. A country south of Kavari and the wild orcs that live there. Chuk’ruani is home to Kenku and Shifter tribes most of all but civilisations of snakefolk, loxodons within shifter communities, and stranger creatures roam on their own habitats. The land is fertile and the seas full. Among the farms and forests there is a history to the place that has become bardic tales and legends spread far and wide.
Those of Chuk’ruani have a deep faith in the massive primordial behemoths that inhabit their lands. It is religion to them and as such they can manifest divine power through that faith. The Kenku and shifters follow the great sky birds,
Holding true to the thought of when they die they will take to the skies with them. The Shifters focus their divine energies gifted them by the great land beasts. In a similar way to the Kenku with the difference of their passing being to become one with the land itself.
Spirits of land and sky are very common in the land of Chuck’ruani and interacted with often. The past is revered and the ancestors of one's bloodline is treasured. When magic and power was raw, without mastery it grew wild like an untamed garden in the lands of Da’coatl, the name of the continent before the split. This untamed garden was responsible for the putting together the Uelilistli, arcane gardeners who channeled the wild magic into items, weapons, armour, trinkets, jewelry. Ths list goes on.
When an arcane crafter speaks of wondrous items the very invention of the term wondrous item originated in Chuck’ruani. Hundreds of treasure seekers travel there each year taking with them hired adventurers and mercenaries. Travelling into the forgotten lands of the jungles and plains in search of such ancient items. There are tales of success and many, many more of failure
