History

Back in the time of the dragons the highlands were a place of solitude for these greatest of creatures. They would wander and rest. Staring skyward and admiring the beauty that was still untouched. One such dragon was Thargos the twin to Everwinter. The twins were curious about the Celestial realm. They spoke with Omriel for a time without the need for Celestial light. A time it would radiate from those that held life upon Colossus.
Omriel was bound by their existence and the lawful nature of the realms of radiance despite the chaos of its natives. The decision to allow such a thing brought about the First Age of Gloaming. Thargos carried Omriel far. Whilst Everwinter whispered encouragement to the life that was forming on Colossus, mainly throughout the Toan Highlands.
The first light not of a celestial origin was that of a halfling, now known to many of faith as Tomlin, the first of their kind. Their own light was enough that they could live within the Gloaming. Tomlin aided their friend, Bhelgron in doing the same. But as all great tales the heroes had skills. Bhelgron became The Lightsmith and taking Tomlins teachings helped forge the lights of the Halflings across the highlands.
When Omriel first left the realm of the Ela’Demore and took it as their name they carried with them the Light of Colossus. Some say this is a weapon wielded, others a tale spoken. What is known is that Omriel Ela’Demore is the Light Bearer.
Omriel was called upon by the first light to be the champion who held back Abyssal breaking out of the demonic realm. Omriel became known as Ela'Demore, believed to roughly translate to one who ends demons, demon bane, or demon's nightmare.
Omriel has been depicted as both a human and an elf, and even on one or two occasions a dwarf. This was believed to be so through Solaris' blessing of their creator, with Omriel thought to be the first Aasimar. The Rhinehart Kingdom were responsible for destroying many of the references to the latter too, however some old references to Omriel being an elf still remain in the likes of Vae. Despite the historic references, Omriel being a human is still the most commonly acknowledged belief, with ancient references to the Kingdom of Everdawn being intertwined with Omriel, and some believing the Everdawn family to be direct descendants of her.
