History
Originally the continent was known as Da’coatl, a place made
up of a handful of countries. Chuck’ruani in the South,
Tak’nul to the North and the two central nations Bru’siot and
Calm’ak.
The land mass is enormous and the four nations were becoming great beating hearts of civilisation. The Orcs residing in Tak’nul had come with the Empire of the Amokosa. When said Empire faded the orcs stayed, the tundras crept across from the Vikonia and Sovii. It was a vast stretch of snowy forests and rolling white that merged into the green jungles spreading South. The Orcs were under the leadership of one called Kavari. They held them together as one to make something of remaining in Tak’nul.
Bru’siot gave way to many humanoid races, they farmed the land and spent their time perfecting the art of agriculture. The Bruese were known for having a form of druid craft running through their veins. They had a great relationship with the Calm’ak directly on their eastern borders. The Calm’ak were humanoid beasts, mostly bipedal and blessed with strong animalistic features and attributes. Their land was heavily populated with animals of hundreds of varieties. The natives hunted them. The symbiotic relationship between the Calm’ak humanoids and the natural creatures was almost perfect.
In the South resided the ziggurat building Kenku, in the nation known as Chuck’ruani. They were gifted farsight from the great sky behemoths. Their massive pyramid like structures gave them a peak point to erect sky shrines. Things were as one would want. Peaceful. Trade was healthy, the faith of the Behemoths was shared and embraced by the continent.
Things get murky here in the histories. But one thing that is certain is a sickness came to the land. A supernatural affliction that came to be known as the Teyolía Plague. It attacked the soul, tore into its existence. The continent was on the verge of being wiped from memory. Theories are the presence of raw wild magic caused an overspill of arcane power and manifested into the Teyolia Plague.
The Behemoths were called upon, sacrifices, prayers, promises, oaths all given in hope they would cleanse the land. But to no avail. The plague changed the land and its people forever more.
Those of Chuk’ruani, the Kenku took to the skies in hope of creating a place above and away from the sickened land. The rituals they performed went wrong, as is the risk with wild magic, it shredded the Kenku from within. They fell from the skies and the wound to the soul was so that it took their words and ability to fly. For a time Kenku went to ground, the ziggurats were quiet and the prayers to the sky behemoths silent.
Kavari and their orcs tried to fight the plague, with alchemy and journeys to the planes. It broke many of them, decaying the part of their souls that masters ‘calm’. It no longer remained within them. Without it the rage and fury within them was untamed and poured from them into the land of Tak’nul. They began to fight among themselves no longer would they work together, tribes were established and almost gang warfare started. Kavari took drastic measures and claimed the country as theirs. The orcs blamed the behemoths for the affliction and Kavari jumped on this point, it was the only idea that kept the orcs as one. Kavari for sore the end of their people, the rage and anger was tearing them apart, the decision was made to remind themselves of Fury the Orc Mother. Kavari led the orcs of Tak’nul in a hunt to take the spirit of the behemoth Karkadann. This was thought not possible but the Teyolía Plague had struck the behemoth as well and in its weakened state the Orcs were successful. The behemoth was sacrificed to Fury and the plague cured but the scar remains and the orcs of Kavari without the focus of the behemoth turned on one another with heightened rage, fighting one another as well as pushing south into Bru’siot and Calm’ak.
When the orcs pushed south they brought such violence with them that those of Bru’siot and Calm’ak had to flee, they ran to Chuck’ruani. It was a fighting retreat and the blessing in disguise was the Orcs not being able to work together long enough to complete their invasion. Both mid nations were crippled by the attack and Teyolía Plague. Many words were shared but both sides agreed that for their respective races to survive they needed to aid one another beyond the norm. They sort out the Behemoths of the land and asked to be one. This gift was granted them and both were merged, healing the soul scarring from the plague and allowing both souls to become one and therefore be stronger. This was the first generation of shifters.
The Kenky returned to their ziggurats and started anew their worship of the sky behemoths, now with the tents towns of the Shifters who worshipped the land behemoths. Chuck’ruani their home and now shared country. The land between them and the Kavari orcs is a common battle ground as every now and then the Orcs would not attack one another and push south.
