Six major families rule a province that orbits the capital
where the ruling steward’s family resides. Since the death of
King Rhinehart the House of Falcon has stewardship over
Ravenholm.
The six provinces and their houses are;
House of Eagles – Those of the wall, they pride themselves on being the first thing an attacker would engage in, they live and breathe combat. Human purists through and through, claims to the original armies of Rhinehart run rife through them. They are a strict house and well disciplined. The talents of those on the wall are pure grit and determination. They do not look to any for aid, this leads them to generally not favouring clerics, paladins, sorcerers, warlocks, druids etc. To be fair their only grouping of classes they allow members to be trained in are fighter, barbarian, bard, rogue, wizard, ranger etc. They wish to be completely free from the history of the former Empire. Their banner colours are golden.
House of the Falcon - Their seat resides within the Capital, the City known as Raven. It is their role to steward the country, no monarch replaced Rhindhart and none shall as far as they are concerned, as they believe no one is worthy to sit why the great Rhindhart once did. If Council is ever called it is the Falcon who chair the meeting and have final say. They are noble elite and are bound by honour to be the royal guard to an empty throne. Their banner colours are dark greens and blacks.
House of the Red Lady – vampires and unliving, the family’s dedication to witnessing the return of the Rhinehart kingdom led them down the path of giving up their mortal life in place for a necrotic one. The stories about this house lay claim to the ruling family being around in the Great War. Any avenue they can take to bring necrotic magic into the house such as sorcerers, wizards, clerics, druids, paladins etc all their magics will be heavily in the Necromancy schools and beliefs, The Red Lady is their sole religion. Their banner colours are whites.
House of the Forged – constructs, golems, soulforged etc. To make themselves better in combat and all things this House has committed itself to binding the souls of its people into things they deem stronger than human flesh, this has led to the creation of what are known as the soulforged/warforged. Metal and wood bound to a soul. These are the most revered of the Forged. Their banner colours are steel grey.
House of Taur – animal merging’s e.g Minotaur, Rhinotaur, lycanthropes etc. The ruling family are human looking but enhanced, so instead of being half beast half human they have had the strengths of beasts magically merged into them e.g higher strength, intelligence, charisma etc Their banner colours are crimson.
House of Lillies – the head of the house carries the title Prince, for his family line stems back to the days of Rhindhart. However not a direct descendant he has no claim to the throne. The Prince has never married, the story goes, his heart is iron bound to a nymph of the sea. The house is responsible for the sea merchantry of the country. Sailing far and wide. They are the youngest house but with the oldest history. Their banner colours are sea blue.
Minor houses spin off and organisations exist abundantly within Ravenholm. There is a lot of claim to their legacy empire when they were spread across most of the continent. The leadership of Ravenholme soul ambition is to make the country very very powerful. Their focus on the arcane and how they can take advantage of it is second to none. They long for the empire to rise again, albeit all houses have a secret desire for their particular house to lead this new rising of glory.
