Wyvaran
Even among the dragonfolk, Wyvaran are ... an oddity, at best. Their dragon forefathers created through strange magical rituals with one purpose in mind: Keep the lesser dragonfolk in check. Their purpose was to make sure that the kobolds would not run rampant or savage in the lands of Iobaria.
Their numbers are kept in check by their inability to reproduce naturally. As a magically created race, they entirely rely on the rituals created by dragons to maintain their population. For a while, they were thriving as a species, numerous Wyvaran being considered as warlords by kobold counterparts.
Unfortunately, 200 years ago, disaster struck in the form of the Drakeplague that wiped most of the dragon population (and their child-races). The ones who remained went into hiding, leaving their children to fend of themselves. It was at that time that the population of Wyvaran dwindled down, to a point where, to this day, only a handful remain.
Wyvarans are fiercely territorial creatures loyal to their kin and tribe, and allow no interlopers into their lands without good reason or proper tribute. Each defends its personal property, and seeks revenge on any who dare steal from it. Most evil and neutral wyvarans primarily concern themselves with expanding their territory and wealth.
Many civilized races dismiss wyvarans as fast, dumb, selfish brutes. However, a creature who respects the wyvarans’ rules about their property finds that they make steadfast and loyal allies. Adventuring wyvarans often view their companions as clutchmates, and are willing to take great risks to protect them.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Wyvarans have far more draconic features than Drakhen. Their legs are powerful and built like a dragon's, they have two arms, legs, and wings, as well as a long and powerful tail. They stand taller and bulkier than most humans, their facial features seeming too draconic for humans or even kobolds, but not enough for wyverns and dragons.
Genetics and Reproduction
As this race was magically created by dragons in complex rituals, as a cross between wyverns and dragons, they cannot naturally reproduce.
Growth Rate & Stages
For humans, Wyvarans grow slowly, but for dragons, they grow very fast. They usually reach adulthood around the age of 40. They are short lived for dragons (up to 200 years) but long lived compared to humans.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Like their wyvern forefathers, Wyvarans can navigate complete and mostly complete darkness with relative ease.
