Session 8 Report

The session starts with the party still inside the cave system after just having defeated the Notics. They ventured further into cave and encountered a big room with a big floating creature with 1 eye and 4 tentacles with eyes at the end of each tentacle. They quickly realized the creature was a Spectator and, just like the Notics, is drawn towards magic. The room had 2 points of entry and the party split up to surprise the Spectator from both sides.
Malgath entered the room and jumped towards the left side of the room to distract the Spectator. Elovar and Malachaia went to the entrance on the right side of the room to try and surprise the Spectator. The Spectator, shooting beams from his tentacle eyes, managed to charm Malgath and paralyze Elovar. Malgath tried to attack the Spectator, but in his confusion hit Elovar, nearly killing him. Elovar broke free from his paralysis and Malgath managed to break his confusion and together with Kasnan and Malachaia they managed to quickly overpower the Spectator and killing him. 2 of the tentacle eyes got destroyed in the fight, so Kasnan cut the other 2 eyes from their tentacles and took them with him.  

Further into the cave

After the fight the party proceeded towards the room on the right, finding a dead dwarf lying next to a pool of mud and blood. Doldur recognized his symbol as the symbol of the Stoneforge Consortium. As there was nothing they could do for the dead dwarf the party proceeded further to the other side of the big chamber and went down a corridor ending with an big door. Elovar tried to use his thieving tools to open the door, but soon realized the door didn't have an lock to pick. Kasnan spotted 2 round shaped holes on either side of the walls next to the door. Kasnan put his hand into one of the holes and ordered his imp to put his hand into the second hole. Kasnan burned his hand, while his imp seemed to be fine. Quickly he realized the Spectator's eyes would fit the holes perfectly and put both eyes into the holes. The door vanished before there eyes, revealing another room glowing with blue light. Entering the room the party immediately noticed a blue meteorite was the source of the emitting blue light. The party took the meteorite and headed back towards the entrance of the cave.
  Upon walking towards the first room their perception became aware of 3 figures around the fire. 2 seemed to be eating the dead Notics and the last one was standing in the back of the room observing, almost as if he was waiting for someone to enter the room. The party again positioned themselves to enter the room from 2 different corridors to try to ambush them. As if guided by fate itself the party quickly disposed of the 3 figures without taking a lot of damage and exited the cave. They asked Doldur to guide them towards Meadowcroft, but Doldur insisted they weren't going to be able to enter the city, as only dwarves are allowed to enter. Doldur suggested they would head for Timgad instead. The party, under the guidance of Doldur headed into the mountains to find the city of Timgad. On their way towards the city they encountered a few bears once again, but made quick work of them due to their previous experience with killing bears. Elovar took the bears skin once again and upon entering Timgad he started looking for an merchant that would be able to make warm clothes from the bear skins to protect the party against the colder environment in the Khazret mountains.
 

Timgad

In Timgad the party searched for some equipment, clothes and other things to help them on their next journey. They also inquired about the meteorites, but with no success. They notices some warehouses around the Stoneforge Consortium and managed to steal a key from one of the clerks at the warehouse. Later that day the dwarves working at the warehouse left their posts to get some rest and the party took that opportunity to enter the warehouse and search it. While finding no meteorite pieces or anything alike the party did find some interesting loot inside the warehouse. But as they searched the warehouse they notices some guards enclosing on the warehouse. Malgath, who was standing outside on the lookout, spoke to the guards and managed to convince them nothing was going on. Meanwhile the rest of the party left the warehouse using a side door that entered an alleyway and managed to escape, while Malgath followed them back to the tavern.
