The Election of Vahalian

Aided by a dirty political campaign aimed at demonising their neighbours and 'problem' elements of society, Vahalian wins over the public support. Hanzig bows to internal pressure while Leiden is bought by promises of gold and threats of blackmail.   He immediately begins preparations for war, announcing that the Empire must prepare itself for the coming conflict, though he does not elaborate on who this conflict could possibly be.
