With the death of the newly crowned King Leopold at the hand of Naggarn assassins, King Karl took the throne and utilised his father's murder as a diplomatic impetus to begin measures of appeasement with neighbouring countries. Claiming an impending invasion by the black lands of the south, he formalised a military alliance amongst the many fractured nations of the north, offering vast sums of gold and industry in 'recognition' of their shared kinship and past troubles. This skillful diplomacy, and the steady succesess of the Garyn Household in Naggaryn towards claiming the throne, won over the nearby realms who, one by one, agreed to a coalition in the face of these threats. Slowly and carefully would the newly crowned Emperor-Elect Karl begin to formalise the traditions of The Brazen Empire until his death, leaving behind a federation that would only grow stronger still.
