Johnny Grey

Johnny Grey, the owner and bartender of the Yuston Bar, lived a simple life. He loved his family and his job, where he could chat and listen to his customers’ stories. He had a keen sense of trouble, and he knew how to handle it. With four black belts in different martial arts, he was a formidable fighter. No one dared to start a brawl in his bar. Those who had tried regretted it bitterly.   The traveler, who had just walked in, couldn’t tell any of this by looking at Johnny Grey. He saw a smiling, friendly man who greeted him warmly. He didn’t know that Johnny had once knocked down a man with one punch and said, “Please don’t try to hit me again.”   Johnny didn’t need weapons, but he liked to have them handy. Behind his bar, he kept a few plasma battalions for the minor problems. For the major ones, he had a battle hammer that he named Thor. He claimed it was a gift from a Jann who owed him a favor. The Jann had won it from an angel in a game of chance. Johnny’s story sounded unbelievable, because angels never parted with their weapons. And if a djinni ever stole one, the angel would hunt him down. But Johnny swore it was true, and no one could prove him wrong. Johnny also had an arrow that he said belonged to the bow Khryselakatos, the bow of Artemis. Again, no one believed him, but no one had ever seen such a bow either. So no one challenged him on that.   The Yuston Bar was a classy spot in the city center. It offered entertainment, but not the noisy and crowded kind at the Entertainment Castle. It had a cozy and elegant atmosphere, with dim lights and scarlet furniture. The live entertainment was usually a jazz singer or a few comedians, who made the customers laugh and relax. The Yuston Bar was famous for its mixed drinks, which some said were the best in the universe.   Rumors have it there is a secret passage underneath the Yuston Bar. One may enter it if the hinn guard allows passage. The guard is some half-bird, part lion and wolf creature with leather skin. The owner, Johnny Grey, has a lot of far-fetched tales. So many that it is hard to know which are true.
