Ivareil The Jann
Ivareil the Jann is a master of party games, with a talent for getting humans to let loose and have a good time. He’s a big fan of mind games and challenges that involve getting people to let their hair down and indulge in a little bit of reckless behavior.
But don’t let his playful demeanor fool you - Ivareil is a master strategist who knows how to lure his victims into his trap with philosophical conversations and debates on trivial issues. Once he’s got them hooked, he’ll make a challenge - usually involving some kind of math problem.
Despite his formidable skills, Ivareil is a good loser when he loses a challenge. But he seldom loses, as he carefully selects his victims based on their conversations. If the traveler is lucky enough to beat Ivareil at one of his games, he’s generous to a fault. He’ll give away secrets to magic spells, or maps to find powerful weapons - whatever it takes to keep the game going.
When the master traveler met Ivareil, the Jann had his sights set on the traveler’s backpack. He presented a game with squares and patterns, and the master traveler was more than happy to play along. As Ivareil drew on the table with his index finger, a bright blue line of energy trailed behind his fingernail, creating nine horizontal and parallel lines. He then did the same with vertical lines, creating eight rows and eight columns of squares. The master traveler watched as Ivareil began filling the boxes with numbers. The first row had 6, 64, 63, 9, 10, 68, 67, and 13. The master traveler saw no pattern, but Ivareil continued until he reached the bottom row. Then he stopped. He told the master traveler that if he could fill in the remaining boxes with the correct numbers, he would supply him with a map that would lead to a chest - a chest that contained an elixir with the power to rejuvenate the master traveler’s soul. But if the master traveler guessed the incorrect numbers, he would have to surrender his backpack and all its contents.
With Ivareil, every game is a chance to win big - or lose everything. The master traveler dictated, and the Jann wrote the numbers inside the boxes. He wrote 62,8,7,65,66,12,11, and 69. The numbers were 100% correct. The master traveler won and bartered the elixir away for a better prize.
Spending time with Ivareil will undoubtedly expose his disdain for Hobs Kindler and members of the Atlantean cult. Hobs uses chari in his jewelry – a crime in the city. To make matters worse. He dates Mylie Riley a djinni he’d rather have for himself.
Aside from his nonchalant character, Ivareil is the chief recruiter for his gang. From time to time, he tests travelers to see if they have the necessary grit and intelligence to join his group of bandits.
