Hobs Kinler
Hobs Kinler is a jeweler in the Night Shade Jewelry store. He is skilled with necklaces, charms, and bracelets. His collections are beautiful and elegant. However, some things in his collection – those hidden in the back room in his secret underground chamber are enchanted.
Hobs will sell jewelry for tokens, but the enchanted ones, he sells for Franks. The jewelry may have protective qualities from specific races of djinn. For example, jewelry containing material exposed to cascade energy may compel a djinni from the Jann race to disclose secrets. The same may cause a Banjangli to speak honestly.
Hobs will do just about anything for chari. His unique jewels are mixed with the mystical metal that all djinn fear. He keeps his chari collection safe and has a hinn fox with hypnotic eyes protecting it. Possessing chari is a crime in the city; djinn and humans alike are always on the prowl, so Hobs trusts very few people.
Once, the master traveler met Hobs, and the jeweler set him up for harm. The Laloc Rising gang nearly murdered the master traveler. In the physical world, Hobs is a gangster who runs a nightclub where he cleans dirty money from his prostitution ring. This former bodybuilder freely displays his special talents in the City of Dreamers. He can be a great ally to a traveler, but one should always keep an eye on him because Hobs will keep an eye on everyone.
