Cole Tavern
The Cole Tavern is a dimly lit tavern located in the East quadrant of the city. The walls are adorned with intricate mosaics depicting ancient tales of djinn and humans. The air is thick with the scent of exotic spices and the sound of lively music. The patrons are a mix of humans and djinn, all looking for a good time, but in this place, a good time is relative.
In the back of the tavern is a room where card games are played. The stakes are high, and the players always seek an edge. It’s not uncommon for a game to turn violent, so it’s best to keep your wits about you.
The bar is tended by a wizened old djinn who belongs to the Retzel race. Like many of his kind, he will instigate a fight if things are too calm. You will also need to be on the lookout for Oreads; they have invisibility powers, so if you’re having a private conversation, you better know the pancake spell, which will reveal any invisible djinn snooping around. Otherwise, your conversation may become intel for some angel or an Atlantean who often wants to know your next moves.
The atmosphere is charged with excitement and danger. You never know what might happen next at Cole Tavern. It’s a place where fortunes are won and lost, and where djinn and humans come together for unimaginable things.
Behind the bar is a half-completed mural of an incident that shut the tavern down for a full immu. The vacuum pipes, used to suck dispersed human energy from the tavern, were backed up and exploded due to the turmoil. The mural tells part of a story where a djinni of the Khinzabian race fell in love with a human who was, in the physical world, betrothed to another. A magician entered the Tavern to free the fiancé from the djinni’s curse. The energy levels resulting from fear and anger were so great that the vacuum pipes exploded. Now, twice as many pipes are planted in the walls, ceilings, and floors.
