Beca Isiaha
Beca was born to fight for his people in southern Ethiopia. But on his fifteenth birthday, he was taken away from his home and thrust into a different kind of battle – a sacred ritual that tested his body and soul.
Beca endured a year of grueling training, and then he was sent to a remote island with forty other chosen ones. There, he learned the secrets of the astral world, where souls wander and are lured into the City of Dreamers. This city is a trap, a device that drains the souls of their energy and uses it to build a djinn empire. Beca saw through the illusion of the City of Dreamers, and he vowed to stop the evil scheme.
Beca became a disciple of Master Yonathan, the butakah master, and he mastered the arts of magic, alchemy, and combat. Now, he is Yonathan’s right hand, and he waits at the second level of the great pyramid at the south gate of the city. He is the gatekeeper, the mentor, and the judge of those who seek to join the butakah. He will teach them the skills they need, and he will test them with two challenges. He will rank them as proficient or expert. Only the experts will advance to the master. Only the master can teach them the five skills that make them butakah. Only the butakah can save the world.
