Personal history

Tom Sawyer doesn't often talk about his past. On the rare times he does, it seems to the crew of his ship that he changes the stories each time he tells them. There are a few consistent points - he grew up along the northern coast of Basscliff, he has a family history of sailing, and he earned the captaincy of the Red Barchetta through some extrodinary means.

Morality & Philosophy

Despite intentionally obscuring his past, Captain Sawyer is widely considered a good man. He's taken it upon himself and his crew to act as a supply ship for the forces of the Acapellago, especially those stationed at Fort Issimo. Sawyer was already big in the region's sailing mercantile. This gave him a good network to ensure the troops protecting his adopted home have everything they need to stave off the invasion.

Tom Sawyer is captain of the Red Barchetta, the party's traveling base when not at Fort Issimo. Tom has been sailing for a few years, but is young for a captain. Tom is a sailor, through and through, and runs a fairly tight ship.

Description

Tom Sawyer captains the Red Barchetta. He's a modern day warrior with a mean, mean stride.


Cunning Action. Captain Tom Sawyer can use his bonus action during combat to take the Dash, Disengage, or Hide action.

Fancy Footwork. When Captain Sawyer makes a melee attack against a creature, that creature can't make opportunity attacks against Tom for the rest of his turn.

Rakish Audacity. Captain Sawyer adds his Charisma modifier to initiative rolls.

Seadog Shooter. Tom can use his bonus action and half his movement to reload his pistol during combat. When making a pistol attack in the same turn as using this ability, the pistol attack is at disadvantage.

Actions

Multiattack. Captain Tom Sawyer makes three attacks: one with his pistol and two with his rapier.
